I purchased a steamer/fryer from Target. It was a name brand which I had purchased before so I did not think I would have a problem with it. The heating unit on the steamer would not heat up enough to cook the food I put in it. It ruined 2 seperate meals I was attempting to prepare. nI took it back and asked for another one. The girl at the customer service counter refused to give me a refund or a credit toward another steamer. She finally offered me a $ 16.00 gift card as she claimed that’s what the item was selling for. I went back to the housewares department and they were priced at the $ 24.00 I had paid. When I asked her about this she stated that the “policy”” was to give a refund for the lowest price they had sold the item at. nI told her I did not want a refund only a steamer that worked. She refused again
offering me $ 16.00. When I asked her what I was supposed to do with $ 16.00 when the steamer cost $ 24.00 she looked me up and down and said loudly “” Why don’t go buy some candy”” As I am a bit overwieght I took serious offense to this statement. I never did get a new steamer! nI have stopped shopping at Target and I was a pretty loyal customer for at least 20 years. I cannot believe they condone this type of service. I did call the store manager who informed me that their CEO has “” drawn a line in the sand”” on refund issues and he could not help me. nMonanPortland
