sogun's lament (snow jade palace) Sogun’s Lament (Snow Jade Palace of Grief) is a Level 50 heroic instance in Blade & Soul Online.  The instance is infamous for its high requirement for hit rate (minimum of 110%) and annoying boss mechanics. The guide highlights the details of all boss skills and stage mechanics.

The preparations before attempting Sogun’s Lament include the following:
– wear a belt with “Asura’s Brand” resist, either legendary belt or fully evolved mainstream belt. Asura’s Brand is cast by bosses to reduce your healing during the boss battle.
– get ready some antidotes if you plan to attempt the final boss
– get some hit rate food, if you hit rate is low; the recommended hit rate is approximately 110% (~2020); the higher the better  since the 2nd and final boss has very high evasion rate.

Stage 1- Gold & Silver Kid

The path to the 1st bosses of Sogun’s Lament are separated into two, with 1 boss on each side. Split the party into 2 with a tank, and disabler (with double knockdown) on each side.

gold and silver kid

Gold Kid

HP: 6,250,000

Normal Attack Mode

1. Spinning Hammer: 360 degree attack, 2 hits, knockdown effect

2. Smash: Frontal linear AOE

3. Double Hammer Strike: Swing hammer twice, frontal 180 degree AOE, 2 hits

4. Roar: Frontal linear AOE, knockback and knockdown effect

5. Golden Hammer Smash: Smash the ground twice, frontal fan-shaped AOE

Attack Sequence: 1/2 > 3 > 4 > 5

Buff Attack Mode

The boss will cast a Golden Skin Buff (stackable) on himself at fixed interval, increase his own attack and slow players movement speed.

After the buff, the boss will start throwing gold (or shit) on players, with slow effect. After throwing 2 of them, he will go back to Normal Attack Mode.

Silver Kid

HP: 3,340,000

Normal Attack Mode

1. Spinning Axe: 360 degree attack, 2 hits, knockdown effect

2. Smash: Frontal linear AOE

3. Spinning Fist: Invincible during spinning. After spinning, he will cast a frontal linear attack. Knockback effect. If you attack him while spinning, you will be countered and stunned.

4. Double Axe Strike: Swing axe twice, frontal 180 degree AOE, 2 hits

5. Sumo Palm Attack: Frontal Linear AOE, many hits.

Attack Sequence: 1/2 > 3 > 4 > 5

Buff Attack Mode

The boss will cast a Silver Skin Buff (stackable) on himself at fixed interval, increase his own defence and slow players movement speed.

After the buff, the boss will start throwing silver (or shit) on players, with slow effect. After throwing 2 of them, he will go back to Normal Attack Mode.

Key Points

* When the buffs of both bosses reach 4 layers, the bosses will become invincible and it will definitely lead to party wipe.

* The only way to remove the buff, is by knocking down the bosses with double knockdown. Beware of the wake up attackOther cc  (stun, daze etc) will not clear the buff.

* Normally, the disabler should knockdown the bosses on each side, after the boss gathered 3 layers of buff (check buff icon on the boss), before he cast the 4th one.

* After being knocked down, the boss will wake up and jump to the other side. He will then pull and grab the person who has the aggro to himself across the glacier. The boss should be disable with stun or daze after he cast the pull  (don’t use knock down or else he will jump back) .

* Try to maintain the HP of both bosses at similar proportion, such that, the bosses at both sides switch positions at the same time.

* During the whole battle, the glacier at the middle cannot be crossed unless you have a jump or invincible skill;  it’s 1-hit KO for anyone who touches it.

* Only the tankers switch side together with the boss as he jump over. The other 4 party members stay put at their side and attack whichever boss who jump over to this side.

* All attacks in Normal Attack Mode of bosses can be blocked.

at Stage-2, Lightning Illuka,
[ASK]
“When the 12 lightning spear attack is over, the tanker should throw the shield to deal very high damage at the boss and put it on the ground for up to 10+ sec.”

*only tanker (agro) that decide explosion (after shield throw)?? ex: 11-12
*what is the timing?
*what if someone throw the shield before tanker (agro) does?

if our party got < 11 (even once), most probably wipe out due to not enough damage,

* anyone can trigger the explosion. anyone who throw the shield at the right timing..

* to trigger the explosion, one shouldn’t throw the shield too early ; wait for the alarming suction sound (sounds like tzhhhhh~~) before you throw.

* if a random guy throw before the sound, nothing happens; if a random guy throw after the sound, it will trigger the explosion and the aggro will be shifted to guy who throw the shield. This could be bad because it may disrupt him during the CC of the 3 adds

* as long as the DPS of the party is sufficient, there is no need to 12 reflect shots… we often pass with < 11 shots ….

Do you have any idea about how to stun the blue shadow properly? Our party often fails at stunning (the green shadow is easy). It seems the blue shadow needs certain timing to be able to be stunned.

actually i also face this problem…. the stun doesn’t seems to land properly…. it is not the usual “miss” due to evasion either since i have equipped the blue gem; if it miss, a 3 sec buff should be shown….i am still not sure how it happen as well….

Specifically, for destroyer, use 1 > 2 to stun is safer… I tried 1 > V to stun afew times, sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t … very frustrating….

according to some info on KR powerbook, it seems like when the target is moving, certain skills will miss…so, ideally, the adds should be killed immediately after it can be targeted (take 1-2sec after it spawn) without letting them any chance to move… But i think i observe the unusual stun miss when the adds is stationary as well (unless i am lagging.. not sure).
