level 50 weapon choice

Level 50 weapon choice is a major issue for Blade & Soul players at level 50 cap, owing to the huge variety of weapon available. Unlike previous level cap whereby players normally stick to the mainstream weapon until they get their hands on Gold Legendary, level 50 cap introduces alternative weapon evolve path, namely the Godly Weapon S1, S2 and S3 aside from the mainstream weapon. A detailed analysis on level 50 weapons are presented here, with quantitative damage comparison between each weapon choice.

Take note that the analysis is based on the early phase during level 50 cap whereby S2 and S3 Godly weapon is still out of the reach of ordinary players. These end-game weapon may become more affordable and common as the game progresses. However, to better enjoy the content of the game, it would be better to consider other intermediate alternatives while trying to get your hands on S2 or S3 weapons.

For an updated comparison after the S-series weapon boost in Nov 2014, refer to the new weapon choice guide here.

The potential candidates for early level 50 weapons are:
1. Mainstream Weapon
2. Gold Legendary (Level 45)
3. S1 Godly Weapon

These 3 weapons are chosen due to the relative ease of obtaining them as compared to S2 and S3 Godly Weapons, and the cost of upgrade is somewhat affordable by ordinary players. The performance of S2 and S3 weapon will be compared with these weapons, in the future.

Baseline Weapon

For damage comparison, I have decided to use the mainstream weapon at which most players get stucked at the moment, which is Lv10 极限极魔  Extreme Demon weapon.  Acquiring a Gale weapon is a huge problem for many players at early level 50 phase (for more info on how to get the weapon, refer to the Level 50 Weapon Guide).

extreme demon weapon

Attack + 324 | Pierce+84 | Crit + 194
Chance to recover 100% MP
Chance to increase crit damage by 18.5%, duration 12sec
Chance to increase crit rate by 3.0%, duration 12sec

My average damage calculation is based on the following equations:
Average dmg = c * Crit dmg + ( 1 – c) * Non-crit dmg
where C = crit rate

Refer to Damage Calculation Mechanics for level 50 for more info.

Assumption:
Target defence = 10% (big 3 hero dungeon bosses defence)

Baseline Stats:
Attack = 524
Additional Dmg =68
Crit Rate % = 28.93%
Crit Dmg % = 203.15%
Pierce = 6.13%

The stats may or may not reflect your current stats since it is largely dependant on your class and the gear you are wearing. These stats are based on my level 50-4star destroyer, wearing mixture of mushin-bloody shark hybrid bopae, with excellent demon accessory set and extreme demon mainstream weapon, with pirate soul. Despite the difference in stats, the outcome of the analysis would serve as a good reference for all players.

The following analysis will be based on the comparison of damage RELATIVE to the baseline weapon.  I would use 2 characteristic skills for destroyer for damage comparison, namely, Demolition (RB) and Smash (X).

Note: Comparison with RB would be based on average damage with crit and non-crit dmg taken into account. For X, the comparison is made purely based on crit dmg only due to C,X,X combo, 100% crit chance.

Baseline Average Damage (without trigger buff effect):
mainstream1

Baseline Average Damage (with both trigger buff effect):
mainstream2The trigger chance of the crit rate and crit damage buff is ~4% (tested myself) while the MP recovery triggers at 4.5~6% chance (test performed by chinese, reference1 & reference2).

Mainstream Weapon

The most straight forward option would be to fully evolve the mainstream weapon, up to Excellent Scorpion 卓越蛇蝎 Level 10 Weapon.
Excellent Scorpion

Attak+372 | Pierce+104 | Crit + 246
Chance to recover 100% MP
Chance to increase crit damage by 18.5%, duration 12sec
Chance to increase crit rate by 3.0%, duration 12sec

It is an improved version of the baseline weapon. The trigger effect is exactly the same as its predecessor (assume the trigger chance is the same) and it doesn’t come with any skill enhancement effect. The MP recovery trigger chance is almost similar to its predecessor, ~6.6% (reference)

I go straight to the conclusion: upgrading the mainstream weapon would give ~9.5% increase in average damage for RB and X, as compared to the baseline weapon without the trigger effect.

Given the high coverage time (12sec buff) and good trigger chance (4% for each), it would be appropriate to consider the damage increase as a result of the buff.

With both crit rate and crit damage buff on, the weapon would have grant ~17% damage increase as compared to the baseline weapon (without trigger buff).

However, Excellent Scorpion weapon is NOT the ultimate form of the mainstream weapon (although i would call this weapon “fully evolved form” in this article). Further evolution is not yet released currently. Skill enhancement or better trigger effect might be added in the future.

Take note that if you ever plan to upgrade S2 Dark weapon, it would be best not to evolve the mainstream weapon this far. Keep it at Extreme Demon weapon since it is required for leveling S2 Dark.

Lemonett

but no idea when this new boost can be made? they dont say anything about a month or something?

chaose5

nope not rich enough xD
also some guy told me in the 10.1 update the s1 weapon is gonna be better. some GM say that. at least that was he told me. but no idea when is gonna be or if its true. so i think im gonna buy golden weapon for now because is the best choice for me

the developer did mention recently that they will boost the new S-series weapon shiny prefix…. so i would hold my decision to buy anything for now…

Do you have info about s2 pvp weapon? is because i want to know wich one is better for pve. the golden weapon (probably shiny) or the s2 pvp??

chaose5
Guest

s2 pvp weapon? you refering to s2 light weapon? Actually, s2 light effect is more defensive while s2 dark effect is more offensive. The cost of upgrade for s2 light is higher than s2 dark as well… generally, most players would take s2 dark for pve, assuming you are rich enough to own one 😀

If i get in my S1+2 the buff 1, no chi recovery, that buff stay or can change to chi recovery and chance of bless in further levels? or is better buy a new one and try get chi buff?

chaose5

The green text (buff effect) might mutate every time u level up the weapon.. so if you don’t get mp recovery, you can still level it up and pray for it to become MP recovery at level 10 or turn into a blessed prefix 😀

ok i see. and 1 more question. if i buy that golden lv9 and when i unseal it it become on shiny. i can reseal it to a chance to blessed or i lost the lv9? (im not too informed about this weapons)

chaose5
Guest

prefix will only mutated upon leveling up….. you should try level the weapon to level 10….. it might turn into one of the 3 prefix …. if you want to reset, you will need to reseal it and it will drop to level 9 again, so that you can repeat the leveling process.

so. i think the best choice for me for a consistent damage is the golden legendary. so if i buy a golden weapon lv9 on auction (worth like 600 gold) what are the chances to get one with the same stats that you show? there is a higher chance to get worst stats?

chaose5
Guest

er, i am not sure of the chance… but there like 5 types of stats set… so maybe it’s like 1/5 chance…just guessing..anyway the stats difference is not that significant ….

i have a question. i tried my BCT and attacking 1 target max 2 times i can active that buff. and on massive targets max 4 times.
so with this cover time. is better for me the S1 Shiny lv10 or the Mainstream scorpion weapon??

chaose5

For S1 Shiny, the minimum S1 BCT required to be equivalent to mainstream (without buff) can expressed by the following equation, by considering RB skill dmg comparison for both weapons with baseline:
9.5% = (1-BCT) * 4% + BCT* 19%

Solving the equation for BCT yield BCT ~ 37%

In order words, you would need to trigger the buff 4-5 times in 1 minute to match the average damage provided by a mainstream weapon (without buff) on a single target.

I would say, if you don’t use the skill enhanced by S1 (whereby the +50% skill dmg means very little to you), you should stick to mainstream weapon or gold legendary

Extra:

If you were to perform similar calculation on a mere Blessed S1 level 5:
9.5% = (1-BCT) * 6% + BCT* 32%

Minimum BCT required is only 13%.

This means that 1-2 trigger in 1 minute will be equivalent to mainstream weapon (without buff).

This is why i am using my level 5 blessed S1 instead of mainstream.

if I failed to get blessed suffix on S1 from lv 1 to 5, what should I choose weapon ?
– go on upgrade S1 ?
– re-upgrade from lv 1 to find blessed ?
or just back to mainstream 😀
I want your recommend 😀

Give yourself a pat on the back, You still have 5 chance to get BLESSED prefix. You won’t get ill-fated from shiny prefix , don’t worry. Just keep upgrading. If you still don’t understand why you should keep going, read this: http://www.freedomplays.com/blade-soul-prefix-change-mechanics-weapon-accessory/ . IDEALLY, you wouldn’t want a blessed before level 9. You ONLY want Bless prefix AT level 10 since getting a blessed prefix means you have to stop upgrading immediately.

On the mainstream part, seems it’s only on yeti stage (362 atk). Do you mind to update the comparison with the scorpion stage (372 atk) instead? Since it’s currently the best obtainable mainstream (2 last stage only can be obtained from 2 unreleased purple dungeon).

RB comparison only:
1. Mainstream scorpion: steady 372 atk.
2. S1 shiny lv10: steady 330 + 10 atk, with a chance of +60 atk buff.
3. S1 blessed lv5: steady 350 + 9 atk, with a chance of +110 atk buff.
4. S1 blessed lv10: steady 350 + 117 atk, with a chance of +250 atk buff.

Still confused though with the weapon choice. Currently I have #1 and #2 (self-upgrade, fail to get blessing). Do you think I should try self-upgrade getting blessed S1 again (took around 250G)?

Auction house wise, #2 is sold for 230 gold and #4 is sold for 4400 gold.

Thanks for pointing that out… I actually made a mistake in the article by missing out that Excellent Scorpion Weapon (272 Atk) can reach level 10 currently. I have updated the article accordingly.

Fortunately, the mistake doesn’t alter the overall result/conclusion. As for your question, i can see that you purely look at the attack stats alone, while my analysis consider both attack, crit, crit dmg and pierce in the calculation, along with the trigger effect (crit, crit dmg, atk buff)

Anyway, to give you a simplified understanding, i would discuss what you have brought up as well, regarding RB dmg in comparison with baseline:

#1: RB dmg is mediocre (9.5% dmg inc without buff, 17% dmg inc with both buffs), not even as good as Golden Legendary (steady 15% dmg inc), reason: gold legendary offers permanent increase of crit rate and crit damage, instead of trigger buff. The dmg of X is far inferior to S1 and golden legendary too.

#2: RB damage is the lowest among the 3 weapons, merely 4% dmg inc. However, it gives 19% dmg inc with +60 attack+4% crit rate buff which turn around to be the strongest among the 3 (not counting blessed yet). That’s why i mention, this weapon is only good if you have a good Buff Cover Time.

#3: RB damage is the low, merely 6% dmg inc without trigger buff because the green text passive has not reach its full potential. However, it gives 38% dmg inc with +110 attack+4% crit rate buff (very significant increase, if you ask me).

#4: I believe, i should have convinced you in the article that this weapon is imba.. Trigger effect + 250 atk + 10% crit rate will bring your dmg to a new height.

Really up to you (or rather how deep is your pocket)…. To tell you the truth, the chance of getting a level 10 blessed at this stage, is extremely slim. We have 6 x S1 weapon in our guild getting to lv10 without seeing blessed at all, i consider myself extremely lucky.

i have a confused here, can u re-confirm this task
” However, S1 will not attain ill-fated suffix before level 6. Therefore, it is advised that if you ever get a blessed S1 before level 6, u can safely level it up level 5 and the blessed suffix would 100% stay.”

if I have Blessed S1 at lv 2 and I lvl it up to 5
– does it guarantee have suffix Blessed at lv 3,4,5 ?
or
– still have a chance suffix will change to shiny ( wondrous ) at lv 3,4,5 ?
————-
can u recommend lv 50 accessories choice ? mainstream access or lg access ?
————-
can u recommend atk and hp stat for farmming faction lv 50 boss
————-
sorry my bad english, its not my main language 😀 Hope you understand.

Confirmed… my S1 Blessed went from level 2 to level 5 without any mutation 😀 . I have double-checked a few reports in chinese bns tieba, similar results. So i can assure you that, Level 2 – 4, if you have a blessed prefix, go for level 5 without worry.

chaose5

according to the official source (http://bang.qq.com/wenda/detail_question.shtml?qid=6587), once you get blessed, you will definitely get blessed suffix on subsequent upgrade up to level 5. It will not change to other suffix (shiny etc). Anyway, i will make sure this is true since i will be upgrading my own Blessed S1 Level 2 up level 5 soon.
—————–
definitely legendary if you can afford it… use mainstream first, but eventually as the price of legendary drop gradually, i believe it would be best to acquire one.
——————
lol, i never farm those faction boss, because i always can’t get chest ; melee class (destroyer) here =.=
—————–
anyway, i will write another article soon to clarify the suffix change mechanics for s1,s2 and s3.
